The Unseen Creative
Principle
There is much in life that the five human
physical senses are unable to perceive directly, but whose presence we are
able to deduce from that which we can perceive in our daily
lives.
-
Electricity is invisible to the human eye, yet we can harness it
to achieve a great many things in our lives. The flick of a
switch can turn darkness into light.
-
Gravity is not perceptible, but we experience its
force on our planet every moment of our lives, as we stay grounded
on planet earth without floating skyward.
-
Radio
signals can be picked up by the proper equipment and used to transmit
sound and images around the world.
-
There
is much that exists invisibly, behind the scenes, the presence of which is
obvious through the effects it demonstrates.
-
To take sound as an example, our ears can only hear
sounds that are within a certain range of vibrational frequencies. Yet other forms of
life, including 'man's best friend', the dog, can hear sounds that extend beyond
the frequency range humans can hear.
-
Humankind is wise enough to appreciate that just because something cannot
be seen, or heard, or touched, or smelled or tasted through one of our
five senses - or proved by the sciences - this alone does not
mean that it does not exist.
Behind the scenes in every aspect of life
is a 'principle' that is constantly active in creating, sustaining and
managing the multifold expressions of all that exists.
-
One phenomenon that clearly exists, but which
cannot be perceived by one of the five human physical senses is a
'something' that has been recognised and appreciated for as long as
humankind has been able to think clearly. It has been called by
many names
- Universal Life Force, Source Energy, Creative
Intelligence, Pure Energy, Being, God, and many other names. But names matter
not, what matters is: does it exist? And if it does, then what is
its nature? Can the quality of our lives be enhanced through better access
to and application of this 'something'?

When a human male sperm meets a female ovum
there is a tendency that the ovum will become fertilized and a new
expression of physical
life will be created. How is this?
This 'principle' is behind this tendency. It knows the rules, the formula
and the blueprint for creating a new life-form in this way. Once the human
impulse to create new life is there, this 'principle' takes over and directs
the process of growth and development.

And
what orchestrates those human impulses throughout the human race - and in
other species too - causing them to have the urge to procreate? The 'principle'
does. It is behind every natural tendency in life. It is the behind-the-scenes
driving force of all that exists.
-
As that
newly-created human life grows inside the host
parent, this same 'principle' steers the process of growth and development towards
the birth of the infant. Even after birth and separation from its host parent,
the infant's growth and development continue in a very definite and orchestrated manner.
The 'principle' is behind it all.
-
Here's another observation: An acorn drops from the oak tree
and, through the instrumentality of the 'principle', sprouts and grows into a new oak
tree - not a pine tree, not a cactus, not a pigeon or
a camel, but an oak tree.
-
If your skin gets grazed or cut, and
starts to bleed, this 'principle' will 'know'
that your skin needs to be repaired. And it will know how
to achieve this. Moreover, it will actually carry out the repair itself. This same
healing tendency occurs in all forms of life on earth, be it mammals,
birds, reptiles, fish, plants or insects.

We all know
this. Medical science knows this. It is
accepted that the human body is capable of healing itself if given
the right conditions. Medicine, therapies and other interventions are simply prescribed to boost and
accelerate the healing process, in the knowledge that 'Nature' will then take its
course and bring about the healing.

Who or what is this 'Nature', or 'Mother
Nature' as it is
so often referred to? It is none
other than the same 'source energy' that governs the births and motions
of the planets and stars, that creates worlds and galaxies; that directs growth throughout
all that exists. It is that unseen, apparently all-knowing and intelligent something-or-other that
orchestrates all that occurs in life.
To be capable of being the conductor of
life's universal orchestra, this 'Nature', this life-stream source we're
talking about, must clearly have certain qualities that we could give
labels to from our human vocabulary. It must be both conscious and
also intelligent. And it must of necessity be a field of virtually
unlimited energy.
-
This
'origin stuff' seems to be aware of
what the current situation is. When the ovum is fertilised, when the
acorn falls to the ground, when the skin is damaged, it seems to be
aware of this. So it must be aware, conscious - it must have
consciousness as one of its attributes.
-
This 'origin stuff' seems to know too that in
each situation of what is, certain things, certain actions, are
required. It knows that the fertilised ovum, the
watered acorn and the nurtured bird's egg
need to give birth to a new life entity; and it knows
precisely how to make that happen, every step of the way - on its
own, without human intervention. So, it clearly must be intelligent - it has
intelligence as one of its attributes.
-
It also
has the ability to make these things
happen, and to take the process through the journey of growth and
expansion. So it must be energy - it has energy as one of its
attributes. It is this energy which provides the propulsion power to move, change,
expand, grow, develop, evolve and become.
-
This 'origin stuff' seems
also to be the source of growth and expansion of life itself.
It demonstrates to us that it has the consciousness, the knowingness, and the intelligence,
to manage that growth and expansion. And it has within itself the energy
needed to bring it all about.
-
In view of these insights, for ease of
communication and just so that we're all on the same 'wavelength'
throughout this course, let's give
a name to this 'thinking substance' (as
Wallace D Wattles called it) - a name that we can easily
relate to with a minimum of preconceived ideas, beliefs or opinions about it. Let's
refer to it by two of the key qualities it clearly seems to
possess. Let's call it Creative Consciousness.
Creative Consciousness is a conscious,
intelligent, creative energy that permeates all that exists. It is
the source and pulse of life itself.
-
Philosophically, one could say that it is
non-manifest 'is-ness' that contains within its is-ness the pure
potentiality of everything that is expressed and made manifest.
Every quality that is ever needed for Creative Consciousness to breathe
life into that which exists, is resident within Creative Consciousness
itself.
It is the initiator of the intention
to express itself; it is the envisioner of that which it expresses;
it is the architect that designs its creation; it is the building plans for
the creation; it is also the builder, the building materials and the creative
energy behind everything that is created.
-
It intends, envisions, designs, plans, build, and creates
everything from its own very 'stuff'.
-
Such is the all-encompassing, awesome power
of pure, unseen Creative Consciousness. And this same Creative Consciousness is pulsating through
every one of us human beings.
In essence, we are Creative Conscious
expressed in individualised physical, human form. We are Being that
is being human, as individual human beings.
This is the basic premise of all that follows in this course
- A Course in Creative Consciousness.
